Writing Competition Launched for World Book Day 2024
We have launched a writing competition for KS2 children as part of World Book Day 2024.
Children can choose to write a story set in the North of England with a maximum of 800 words or write a book review with a maximum of 300 words. Further details are given below.
The competition closes at 9.00am on Wednesday 20th March. There will be a prize for the winning piece from each year group.
Additionally, school will submit the winning written pieces to The Portico Sadie Massey Awards Writing Competition.

Write a short story based in the North of England
Make sure your story is based somewhere in the North of England. The view from your window, your local street, community, or somewhere further afield.
Where is meaningful to you?
You can write fact, fiction, or a mixture of both.
The maximum word count for Key Stage 2 is 800 words.
Handwritten entries in blue or black ink (not pencil) Please ensure it is legible.
Individuality and creativity are encouraged.
Write a Book Review
Choose any type of book you want, one you are reading for pleasure or one you are studying - it’s up to you! For example: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or a graphic novel. Make sure the entire book is read and reviewed as a whole.
The word count for Key Stage 2 should be 300 words.
Write your review in your own words and from your own point of view.
